Research for better treatment

New diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are needed to improve cure rates for childhood cancer and severe blood disorders and to reduce side effects and late effects. Thanks to the technological revolution in molecular analysis in recent years, it is now possible to decipher the entire genetic and epigenetic code of a tumor within a few days.

Our resarch groups, which are simultaneously affiliated with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), respectively, use state-of-the-art technologies to better understand the biology of childhood oncological and hematological diseases - with the goal of developing new medical applications for diagnostics and therapy.
