Research focusing in hematology

The KiTZ, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology at Heidelberg University Hospital  also focus on blood diseases, whether malignant or non-malignant. Of the malignant blood diseases, the focus is particularly on T-cell leukemia (Leukemia Research Group), and of the non-malignant ones on anemias (Anemia Research Group) and iron metabolism disorders (Iron Metabolism Research Group). The mRNA Metabolism Research Group is investigating molecular mechanisms that play a role in the development of coagulation disorders and immunodeficiencies.
